Summer Road Tripping

I love summer road trips. My favourite way to unplug in the summer is by exploring new corners of my amazing province of Ontario and soaking in the diverse landscape. From rolling farmland in the south to rocks, trees, and rivers of the north, nature feeds my soul and inspires my creativity. Last summer was the longest trip I’ve done: Niagara to west of Hearst, an epic 12+ hours. This year’s trip was a short one, just six hours to a campground west of Sudbury. The most remote road trip I’ve done was probably the one that involved 70 kilometers of remote logging road far from cell phone access! But whether it’s a short two-hour stretch to visit family or a distant, off-grid get away, I find driving time is also some of my best podcast listening time.

To help us podcast-listening road-trippers out, CBC’s Sounds Good podcast newsletter and Pod the North collaborated to curate a two-part list of podcasts recommended by Canadian podcasters, including yours truly. My recommendation, of course, is the first season of Bad Women by Halle Rubenhold, a great example of ethical true crime storytelling.

Read half the list on CBC’s podcast newsletter, Sounds Good.

See the other half in the Pod the North newsletter.

Judging by the recommendations on these lists, I’m going to have to plan on a whole lot of road trips to get in some serious listening time!
